Citizens were urged to grow food in gardens for the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign.

Jed dug up Mrs Higginbotham’s entire allotment looking for parsnips. When scolded, he claimed to be ‘acting under Churchill’s orders’. The guinea pig was never seen again.
