The Farewell Croissant

With his kids at university and the city shifting, Jed and Ruth prepared to leave Paris.

He painted the view from their window every morning for a month. On their last day, he left a croissant on the windowsill ‘as thanks’. The neighbour’s dog took it. That felt about right.
